Traders outraged by unfinished work

Bengaluru: Gandhi Bazaar, a bustling business hub for the residents of Silicon City, has been marred by prolonged and incomplete construction work, much to the frustration of local traders.

The ongoing project at this crucial junction has surpassed a year without reaching completion, leaving merchants seething with anger directed towards the authorities.

The Bangalore Bruhat Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) initiated the project as part of urban development, with the promise of completing the work within three months.

However, the project remains unfinished, fueling the ire of business owners who rely on the vibrant commerce in Gandhi Bazaar. Over 100 businessmen, including street vendors, hoteliers, and clothing merchants, have borne the brunt of the extended construction period.

The initial intention was to enhance the roads and transform them into high-tech thoroughfares. Instead, the implementation has resulted in a one-way road system on what used to be a twoway road, causing inconvenience and limited parking options.

These makeshift arrangements have created challenging conditions for conducting business.

Exasperated traders are pleading for a peaceful environment that allows them to carry out their activities without unnecessary obstacles, emphasizing the need for practical solutions rather than temporary shelters.
