Chikkaballapur: Upset over domestic issues, Nagamma, 38, a mother of two daughters, allegedly jumped into a well near Seth Dinner on Friday evening.
While the mother drowned, Gangotri, 9, one of her daughters survived as she knew swimming. A search to find Srinidhi, 7, the other daughter is underway.
Gangotri alerted locals who informed the Fire and Emergency Services personnel, and a search to find the mother and her child was initiated, but was called off at night due to continuous rain and darkness. On Saturday, the rescuers found the body of the woman, but could not trace the child.
The Chikkaballapur Rural Police investigating the case said Nagamma had an issue with her husband Satish over financial issues and suspected that she had attempted to kill her children and herself.
“We received a call around 6.30 pm about the incident and began our search despite the rain. However, we had to stop the search as it got dark and fished out the woman’s body on Saturday morning upon resuming our operation. The lookout for the child is still on”, said Basavaraj of the Fire and Emergency Service.
