Bengaluru: Following complaints of gross irregularities in conducting the K.SET Examination by the University of Mysore, it has been resolved that Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will hold this examination for the selection of assistant professors for the year 2022 till further orders.

As per recommendations of the University Grants Commission(UGC), it was decided on January 14, 2020, to authorise University of Mysore to hold the K-SET Examination in 41 subjects, once a year, for three years.

Accordingly, the university was recognized as an accredited institution to hold the KSET Examination for the selection of Assistant professors. However, in the K-SET Examination held in July 2021, there were complaints about gross irregularities for which the examination coordinator and others were held responsible.

Subsequently, a separate inquiry team was set up to probe the irregularities. The State Government however felt the future of thousands of students would be jeopardized if such irregularities take place.

To uphold the sanctity of the examination and to provide quality academic standards to youth, it was necessary for an independent body to hold the K-SET examination in a transparent manner.

So the government decided that Karnataka Examination Authority would conduct the examination for the selection of assistant professors.
