Bengaluru: A woman from here outsmarted a cyberfraud who had introduced himself as a FedEx agent to scam her.

Sharing her experience, the woman, Keka De, revealed that she had received a call on July 10, from a person claiming to be an executive from FedEx Mumbai, using the phone number +91964453692.

The imposter informed the woman about a package sent to her on July 5, allegedly containing illegal items. According to the scammer, the package consisted of five passports, three credit cards, a laptop, and even 150 grams of MDMA drugs, all destined for an address in Taipei, Taiwan.

The fake FedEx agent further claimed that the parcel had been confiscated by customs, urging Keka to file a complaint with the Andheri East Police Station in Mumbai to avoid potential trouble.

The situation quickly escalated when the fraudster, posing as the fake FedEx agent, supposedly transferred the call to the police. Keka described how an IVR message played, stating that she was being connected to the Mumbai police cybercrime department.

Soon after, someone impersonating an officer named Naresh Kumar engaged her in conversation. The imposter warned Keka about her alleged involvement in illegal activities, simultaneously suggesting that her Aadhaar identification might have been misused.

The scammer even disclosed names of individuals supposedly arrested for similar offenses, attempting to gain Keka's trust.
