Bengaluru: The City Crime Branch sleuths arrested three Sri Lankan nationals for allegedly entering India by boat without valid documents and then arriving in Bengaluru, the police said on Thursday.

The accused have been identified by the police as Kasan Kumar Sanaka, 36, Amila Nuwan, 36, and Ranga Prasad, 36.

Additionally, the police apprehended Jai Paramesh, 42, a rowdysheeter who is alleged to have arranged accommodation for the accused in Bengaluru.

According to the police, the three accused are implicated in several murder cases. Sources informed News Trail that Sanaka is facing four murder cases, Nuwan is involved in five murder cases, while Prasad faces two murder and two assault cases.

The police further revealed that the accused had clandestinely entered India 20 days ago and had been residing in an apartment near Bengaluru Cross, falling under the jurisdiction of Yelahanka Police Station.

"Following their entry into India, the Sri Lankan nationals reached Bengaluru from Tamil Nadu's Salem," the police stated.

The arrests were made following a raid at the rowdy sheeter's residence in the city, as confirmed by CCB officials.

During the CCB raid, 13 mobile phones, visiting cards with Sri Lankan addresses, bus tickets, newspaper clippings, and photocopies of numerous Aadhaar cards and voter IDs were recovered from the location where the trio was staying.

Investigations are currently underway to ascertain whether the accused had conspired to commit an illegal act within the city, the police added. At present, the three Sri Lankan nationals and the rowdy sheeter are undergoing interrogation.

However, the investigating officers are facing a significant challenge due to the Sri Lankan nationals' lack of knowledge in English or Hindi; they are only conversant in the Sinhalese language.

Conversely, the rowdy sheeter does not speak Sinhalese.
