BBMP converts playground into dumping ground, ignites outcry from local students

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has transformed a playground into a dumping ground, recklessly discarding cut timber and tree branches that were chopped from various parts of the city.
Local school students are now voicing their discontent over the Palike's negligence.
The playground adjacent to Navrang Theatre in Rajajinagar, popular among children, youths, and morning walkers, has fallen victim to the BBMP's disregard.
The ground now overflows with wood blocks and tree remnants, indicating encroachment. A substantial portion of the area is occupied by timber and waste, and even household garbage finds its way to the site.
This playground, previously used by students for sports and practice behind Navrang theatre, now sees a continuous influx of about 30 to 40 truckloads of logs daily.
Students allege that the Palike deposits tree branches on the ground. The frequent users of the ground for cricket and football are left wondering if the timber dumping serves as a strategy to obstruct their activities and facilitate encroachment.
Anusha, a student, criticized the BBMP for neglecting the ground's upkeep. She shared, "Logs are dumped e without any maintenance. Our recreational time has been disrupted."
