Mysuru:OTT (over the top platforms)s of Kannada language needs a strong backup, to succeed like mega stars in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu like Surya and Dhanush do it for their respective languages.

Actor Puneeth Rajkumar would have given such a star back up to Kannada OTT in future if he would have been there. Though there are 13 Kannada OTTs they are not popular. And sandalwood stars much come forward to do this, said noted teleserial and cinema director, Mr TN Seetharam, and upcoming young director Mr Aravind Kuplikar at a panel discussion on “Change in audience of small and big screen in the present scenario of OTT”, in Mysuru on Sunday. The event was hosted by Mysuru literary forum charitable trust and Mysore book clubs at Regaalis hotel, in Mysuru on Sunday.

“Young directors must come to the small and big screen,” he said adding, “In future, directors must be prepared to get their movies released either at theatres or via OTT or for parallel release in both. Directors should pitch story content with the OTT heads in advance, get their approval and they should come up with movies with the content which will suit OTT audiences,” Mr Kuplikar said.

He also noted that movies can be best enjoyed in the respective regional language with sub titles. So instead of lipsinking of a movie in different languages, sub titles in different languages must be preferred, Mr Kuplikar felt.

Journalist and theatre activist Preethi Nagaraj co ordinated the panel discussion. Chairperson of Mysuru literary forum and charitable trust, Ms Shubha Sanjay Urs, members of the forum and book club, and over 200 Mysureans witnessed the discussion.
