Student org demands fair probe in slap video case

Bengaluru: The All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) issued a strong condemnation on Sunday regarding an incident depicted in a viral video.

The video shows a teacher encouraging second-grade students to slap their Muslim classmate. The organization asserted that a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident is necessary.

The incident took place at Neha Public School in Khubbapur village within the jurisdiction of the Mansoorpur Police Station in Muzaffarnagar district.

Numerous users on social media characterized the incident as a hate crime, as the teacher, Tripta Tyagi, can be heard advocating for the physical punishment of the Muslim children, leading to one child being struck by three of their classmates.

This resulted in the child audibly sobbing. The father of the affected child, Irshad, opted for a "compromise," expressing his intention to abstain from pursuing legal action.

He also withdrew his son from the school, and the previously paid fees were refunded. However, due to significant public outcry on social media, the police were compelled to initiate a Suo Moto case against Tyagi.

The State Secretary of AIDSO, Ajay Kamath, insisted on severe penalties for the accused.

He stated, "We urge for a thorough investigation into this deeply inhumane incident in Muzaffarnagar. The perpetrators must face stringent consequences. It is imperative to uphold communal harmony and unity within society.

Concrete measures should be implemented to prevent the recurrence of such distressing events nationwide."
