
Assam native arrested for blackmailing former colleague

Bengaluru: A native of Assam was arrested from Chennai for allegedly blackmailing his former female colleagues demanding sexual favours from them. Based on a complaint filed by one of the victims from Bengaluru, the South-East Cyber Crime nabbed the accused, who was identified as Amar Hussain Faisal.
It was revealed that he was working at an eatery in Chennai. A probe revealed that the accused was previously working for a hotel in Bengaluru where he was involved in a relationship with a female colleague at work.
However, their relationship ended in no time and the accused returned to his hometown. After a few months, the accused went to Chennai and started working at a hotel there.
According to a source from police, the accused began to blackmail the woman, who is now married to someone else, by sharing private photos and videos that he had captured during their relationship allegedly demanding sexual favours from her.
He created several fake social media accounts using the victim's name and shared a few private photos and videos to harass her further.
Unable to bear this, the woman approached the jurisdictional police in Bengaluru and filed a complaint against the accused. Taking the matter seriously, the police tracked and nabbed him from Chennai.
Sources told News Trail that the accused had asked the victim to come down to Chennai and even sent a vehicle to pick her up at the bus stand there.
He made a video call to the victim to make sure she is coming alone. A team of cops in mufti who were following the woman, captured the accused while he was boarding a taxi a few yards from where he had asked the victim to get into the taxi that he had sent for her.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East Division, Bengaluru, CK Baba advised the people not to comply with blackmailers and immediately report such cases to the jurisdictional police.
The accused has been booked for charges such as blackmail, outraging the modesty of a woman, and other various sections of the IT Act, 2000. Further investigation is being carried out.
