Bengaluru: In Kamakshipalya, the police have arrested three individuals who were responsible for a series of street robberies across various parts of the city.
Their modus operandi involved offering rides to unsuspecting pedestrians, ultimately targeting them for theft. These arrests have led to the resolution of at least three separate cases reported at different police precincts within the city.
The detained suspects are Nanjunda, Girish, and Naveen and the third accused, had been employed as a cab driver at a private transportation company.
The criminals utilised a vehicle owned by a travel firm during the commission of their crimes. Their strategy involved stopping at bus stops and offering rides to passengers waiting for buses.
Once the victim entered the vehicle, they would drive to a secluded location, showing sharp weapons to coerce the victim into surrendering their belongings.
The stolen items included gold ornaments and cash, and they also compelled their victims to transfer money via UPI before leaving them at the scene and absconding with their mobile phones.
This criminal spree came to the attention of the police earlier in the week when one of the victims reported the robbery. Subsequently, the police initiated a manhunt to apprehend the culprits.
With the successful capture of these three individuals, the police have managed to close the cases registered at Kamakshipalya, Annapoorneshwarinagar, and Jnanabharathi police stations.
