Bengaluru: The redevelopment of Yesvantpur railway station in Bengaluru is now in full swing, with the construction of the multi-level car parking (MLCP) and ramps for the elevated road with the arrival/departure plaza already underway on the east side of the station.
The project is expected to be completed by July 2025 at a cost of approximately Rs. 380 crore. The redeveloped station will have separate arrival and departure points for vehicles to prevent congestion.
It will also feature a massively large air concourse (14,800 square meters) on par with the waiting lounge of airports, with food courts, retail spaces, and business centres.
The station will be constructed as per green-building norms, with provision for rainwater harvesting, sewage water treatment plants, and energy-efficient LED lighting.
Once the east side of the station is completed, work will begin on the west side, which is adjacent to the metro station. The MLCP will have a total capacity of 6000 square meters and will be able to accommodate 90 two-wheelers and 90 fourwheelers on the east side, as well as 40 autos/cabs and 50 two-wheelers.
The west side will have a capacity of 35 four-wheelers or 70 twowheelers. The redevelopment of Yesvantpur railway station is a major undertaking that will transform it into a world-class transportation hub.
The new station will be more convenient and efficient for passengers, and it will also help to reduce traffic congestion in the surrounding area.
