BENGALURU BANDH: Bengaluru DC declares holiday for all schools and colleges in city

NT Correspondent: Bengaluru Following a call from various organisations and activists, the city on Tuesday is facing a complete bandh in response to the State Government's decision to release water to Tamil Nadu, a directive issued by the Cauvery Water Management Authority.

Scheduled from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM today, the Bengaluru Bandh is expected to disrupt various public services, with potential impacts on the education sector.

There was an official announcement regarding school and college closures late evening while some institutions confirmed earlier that they will be closed on account of the bandh.

The Recognised Unaided Private School Association (RUPSA) has declared that all private schools under its jurisdiction will remain closed on the bandh day. However, schools under RUPSA that are conducting examinations will proceed as scheduled.

The Karnataka Associated Management of Schools (KAMS) had earlier reportedly left the decision to individual schools, taking into account the disruption the bandh may cause, particularly during the ongoing examination season.

Many private school management have expressed their support for the strike while voicing concerns about its impact on students during the examination period.

The official confirmation regarding the school and college closure was issued by the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner.
