Theme pandal depicting Somnath temple coming up at Ektara’s Kengeri Durga puja

Bengaluru: In a display of devotion and craftsmanship, and driven by the economic compulsions back at their home state, a group of skilled artisans hailing from the remote, backward rural landscapes of Purulia, Bankura and South 24 pargana districts of West Bengal are working tirelessly in Kengeri Bengaluru to breathe life into the Durga puja themed pandal, drawing inspiration from the revered Somnath temple of Gujarat.

For the first time in Bengaluru city, a theme pandal on the Somnath temple has been conceived. With their calloused hands and unwavering dedication, these artisans meticulously sculpt intricate details, infusing their creations with the essence of tradition and spirituality.

Leaving behind their quaint villages, they carry not just their tools but also the dreams and aspirations of their families. As the rhythmic beats of dhak drums echo through the air, these artisans channel their deep-seated emotions into every stroke of their brushes and every curve of their sculptures.

Their work is not merely about art; it's an expression of their unwavering faith and a testament to the unity that binds communities across India during the joyous Navaratri season.

Ektara socio cultural organisation is the beacon guiding these artisans as they transform bricks, PoP and clay into a symbol of divine grace.

Amidst the chaos of the city, these rural artisans remind us of the profound connection between art, culture, and the indomitable human spirit.
