Jain temple theft: Cops recover valuables

Bengaluru: Ashok Nagar police arrested four persons for allegedly stealing valuables including silver ornaments worth Rs 9.7 lakh from a Jain temple in the city.

The police said that the four accused including Joshiram and Reshmaram hailed from Rajasthan and had come to Bengaluru about six months ago to take up a job as tiles setter at Adinath Jain temple in Shantinagar.

After their jobs, the workers were allowed to sleep inside the temple premises at night. However the temple management recently found valuables including silver ornaments stolen from the temple and filed a theft case at the jurisdictional police station.

Following a probe, the police verified the CCTV footage and identified the accused who had fled to their hometown. The police said that an alert was sent to the Rajasthan police after which the four accused were arrested from Pali and Udaipur districts.
