BMTC intensifies ticket checking, penalises over 3,000 ticketless passengers

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has intensified checking of buses operated in and around the city to detect ticketless travelling by passengers.

In September alone, BMTC staff checked 14930 trips and penalised 3027 ticketless passengers by collecting Rs. 6,10,880 as a penalty and booked cases against conductors for their dereliction of duty.

During the aforesaid period, the Checking staff had penalised 387 male passengers occupying seats exclusively reserved for lady passengers and imposed a fine of Rs. 38,700 in accordance with KMV Rules 94 r/w section 177 of MV Act 1988.

In September 2023, 3414 passengers were penalised and Rs.6,49,580 penalty was ollected.
