FIR lodged for flashing Godse posters during Ganesha procession

Chitradurga, NT Bureau: Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with an incident during the immersion ceremony of Ganesh statue in Chitradurga city. During this procession, posters featuring Nathuram Godse were displayed, said officials on Wednesday.

The FIR has been registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 505(1)(C), which pertains to acts intended to incite or likely to incite any group or community to commit offenses against another group or community, and 505(1)(B), which relates to acts likely to cause fear or alarm to the public.

The complaint leading to the FIR was filed by Hanumantappa, a resident of Jogimatti Road in Chitradurga. The incident occurred during the Hindu Maha Ganapati Shobha Yatra in the city.

The complainant alleged that those displaying the Godse posters aimed to disrupt peace and communal harmony in society. The Ganapati statue was installed by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and the immersion procession was organized on a grand scale with DJ music.

People from all over the state participated in the procession. Some youths danced with posters of Veer Savarkar, Sharat Madivala and Harsha, Hindu activists who were killed in Karnataka, and Nathuram Godse. This development sparked a controversy
