'Improve condition of govt schools'

Bengaluru: All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) demanded that the State government form an expert committee to improve the condition of government schools.
The comments were made in relation to the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in the Karnataka High Court (HC). The latter had responded by slamming successive State governments over dwindling enrollment numbers in government schools due to lack of facilities.
The student organisation alleged that more parents were shelling down money to send their children to private schools as a result. AIDSO Karnataka State Secretary Ajay Kamath said that government schools were essential for students from poorer backgrounds, adding that the institution should therefore be protected.
“AIDSO feels that it would be a gross injustice if the number of government schools, which started because every child born in the country should have access to quality education, falls due to lack of students. Kamath said.
