Bengaluru: Bengaluru's metro system system has been a promising addition to the city's transportation infrastructure. However, the absence of last-mile connectivity is still a challenge.
This has led to creative initiatives by some residents. One solution in response to this need by youngsters in the city is the use of compact foldable bicycles within the newly launched Purple Line metro.
These bicycles offer a way to bridge the last-mile gap. The compact and foldable design of these bikes allows commuters to carry them easily on the metro, using them to reach their destinations from the station.
This approach a group of enterprising youngsters in Bengaluru were seen bringing their compact bicycles on board the Purple Line metro. An entrepreneur Vikram Limsay shared photos of this initiative on social media, expressing his enthusiasm for the journey.
In his X handle, he posted, “Making full of #Nammametro #purpleline to Whitefield on our @BromptonBicycle.. super feeling…” The post gained positive reviews from netizens who agreed that the foldable and compact bicycles help commuters to reach their destination post deboarding the metro, without depending on other means of transport.
These bicycles can also help the commuters to move through severe traffic snarls by just folding them and walking when there is a jam, they added. In a separate effort, the Karnataka transport department introduced 37 feeder buses, connecting to the KR Puram metro station on the Purple Line.
