Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to approve the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for phase three of the Bengaluru Metro, which has already been submitted.

He made the comments during a virtual programme marking the fresh Challaghatta to Whitefield stretch of the Purple Line of the Metro, which was thrown open to the public on October 9.

“To meet the growing demand, DPR for Phase Three of Bangalore Metro Rail project for a length of 45 Kms at an estimated cost of Rs 15,611 crore has been submitted to the Government of India for approval. I request the Honourable Prime Minister to approve the project early,” Siddaramaiah said.

“Also, DPR is under preparation for Phase-3A of the Bangalore Metro Rail project from Sarjapur to Hebbal for a length of 37 Kms,” he added.

Currently, Bengaluru is home to two Metro routes. The first is the Purple Line which runs from Challaghatta on Mysore Road in the west of the city to Whitefield in the east.

The second is the Green Line, which runs from Nagasandra in northern Bengaluru to Silk Institute in the south.
