Cops seize over Rs 33 lakh worth gold jewellery; 3 held for house burglary

Bengaluru: The Malleswaram Police have arrested three individuals who stole gold ornaments and recovered gold jewelry worth Rs 33.12 lakhs, weighing 625 grams.
The arrested individuals are Muhammad Zabiuddin (32), Mohammad Mehtab (26), and a previously known suspect, Jagadish Kumar (32).
On the 21st of September, a 54-year-old woman named Shivamma was taking a walk at 8th Cross, Malleswaram, in the evening when an unknown person approached her from behind and snatched a 30-gram gold chain from her neck.
After registering the case, the police reviewed the CCTV cameras in the vicinity where the incident occurred. Based on the information obtained from the CCTV footage, the police arrested and interrogated the suspects, Muhammad Zabiuddin and Muhammad Mehtab, recovering gold jewelry weighing 503 grams worth approximately 26.5 lakhs.
It was revealed that these two individuals had been involved in criminal activities for the past 12 years and had been previously incarcerated in multiple cases.
In another case, suspect Jagdish Kumar was arrested, and 122 grams of gold jewelry worth Rs 6.5 lakhs were seized.
The owner of Star Gold Shop on 18th Cross at Sampige Road in Malleswaram reported a suspicious individual trying to sell gold ornaments on October 22, 2023, around 1:30 p.m.
Crime branch personnel promptly took the person into custody, and upon questioning, it was discovered that the gold jewelry was stolen.
This individual had a history of involvement in over 20 cases across various police stations in Bangalore city, including Vidyaranyapura, Sanjayanagara, and R. T. Nagara police station limits since 2014 and had previously been incarcerated.
The investigation of this case was carried out under the guidance of Mr. Saidulu Adawat, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Division, under the leadership of Mr. H. Krishnamurthy, ACP, Malleshwaram Sub-Division, with the assistance of Police Inspector Mr. Jagadish B. R. and his staff, who successfully detected and resolved the cases.
