Water shortage concerns arise in city

Bengaluru: In parts of Bengaluru, including MEI Layout, Abbigere, Medrahalli, Shettyhalli, Chikkasandra, Sidedahalli, and Peenya, residents are facing early water supply challenges even before the onset of the summer season.
The issue primarily affects areas within the Dasarahalli assembly constituency. A significant portion of the Cauvery fifth phase project, aiming to enhance water accessibility, is near completion.
However, despite the project's progress, certain wards continue to experience water scarcity.
Notably, Cauvery water supply occurs infrequently, often when many residents are away from home, resulting in limited access to this resource.
To address the predicament, local BJP MLA Muniraju has taken steps by appealing to the government for urgent intervention in resolving the emerging water scarcity issue in the constituency, which predominantly comprises middle-class residents.
The situation is compounded by the decreased water levels in the KRS reservoir due to inadequate rainfall. Consequently, the heightened demand for tanker water has led to an increase in its price, placing additional strain on the affected communities.
This is a matter of concern as the scarcity challenges have surfaced prematurely, indicating potential difficulties in water access as the summer season approaches.
The ongoing dilemma requires immediate attention and proactive measures to ensure an uninterrupted and adequate water supply for the residents.
This report aims to highlight the challenges faced by certain areas in Bengaluru and the necessity for prompt measures to alleviate the emerging water scarcity issues.
