Bengaluru: As the Bengaluru metro system witnesses a surge in commuters, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has made commendable strides to cater to the diverse needs of its expanding ridership.

With a substantial rise in the number of individuals, spanning from young professionals to the elderly, turning to the metro to circumvent the city's notorious traffic congestion, BMRCL has initiated a program named 'Good Nine' specifically tailored to assist senior citizens and individuals with disabilities.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by seniors and disabled commuters to cover the minimum 200-meter distance from the ticket counters to the departure gates, particularly at stations like Majestic, BMRCL has introduced battery-operated vehicles.

These vehicles serve as a vital aid in fulfilling the aspirations of these commuters to experience seamless travel within the metro premises.

The introduction of the battery-operated vehicle system has been met with praise from the public, emphasizing the need for its implementation at other metro stations.

Recognising the significance of this service, BMRCL has assured swift responsiveness to the demands of more vehicles to accommodate the needs of senior citizens and individuals with disabilities.

One of the key advantages of these battery-operated vehicles is their eco-friendly nature, operating without emissions and eliminating the need for refueling.

This proactive step taken by BMRCL not only underscores its commitment to offering enhanced services but also showcases its innovative approach to catering to the diverse requirements of the public.
