Kolar: News awaits the residents of KGF, as the State Government plans to establish an Industrial Township spanning 960 acres, formerly controlled by BGML.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made this announcement during the inauguration of the Yeragol Dam, constructed for Rs. 308 crores to supply drinking water to three taluks in the Kolar district.
Emphasising the Township's potential to boost economic activities in the region, he also revealed the government's intention to conduct a feasibility study on supplying drinking water to villages in the KGF taluk from the Yeragol dam.
Despite 216 taluks in the State grappling with drought, the Chief Minister highlighted that development initiatives remain unabated. In Kolar district alone, projects worth over Rs. 2263 crore were inaugurated on the same day.
The State Government has sought financial aid of Rs. 17,900 crores from the Central Government to address the drought crisis.
Undeterred by adverse conditions, the government has instructed Deputy Commissioners and CEOs of ZPs to closely monitor the drinking water situation, ensuring no village faces water scarcity due to financial constraints.
Siddaramaiah praised the industrious people of Kolar district, noting their significant milk production, ranking second only to Bengaluru. To boost milk production, the State Government approved the establishment of a Mega dairy and powder-making unit proposed by the Kolar District Co-operative Milk Union Limited.
Additionally, KOMUL is set to install a Solar plant on a fifty-acre plot near Holali, expected to save over two crores in electricity expenses. The serene Yeragol Dam will be developed into a tourist spot, with a focus on attracting more visitors to stimulate economic activities in the surrounding area.
The Chief Minister conveyed this optimistic vision during the presence of cabinet ministers, elected representatives from Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts, Deputy Commissioner Akram Pasha, and other bureaucrats at the inauguration event.
