Bengaluru: There was no love lost between JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy and Agriculture Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy as the two accused each other of corruption in land dealings.
Kumaraswamy has been in the news for drawing power illegally to illuminate his house. Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) even registered a case against him.
Responding to the row, Chaluvaraya Swamy had said that Kumaraswamy’s properties should be investigated to ascertain if he was in possession of disproportionate assets.
“A minister wants my properties to be investigated but this same gentleman has usurped a lake and swallowed its water. What kind of investigation will you order?” Kumaraswamy asked, adding three acres of land had been grabbed.
The former CM was referring to a lake in Makali village in Doddaballapura of Bengaluru Rural district. Meanwhile, Chaluvaraya Swamy defended himself against the charges, insisting that Kumaraswamy’s “abnormal” properties be investigated.
“Unlike him, I have not encroached fertile land in Bidadi. I’m not in possession of land acquired through grants either. If there is some irregularity in the land that I have bought, the law will take care of that,” the minister said.
