Autorickshaw unions in Bengaluru advocate annual fare revisions for economic equity

Bengaluru: Autorickshaw unions in the city are urging a fare revision and have communicated their request to Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy.
They emphasise that auto drivers often operate outside the existing fare structure, proposing a hike in auto fare to address this concern.
The unions highlighted the infrequency of fare revisions, occurring only twice in the last decade, and insisted on an annual review. Citing a central government recommendation to amend the Act, they advocated for yearly fare adjustments rather than periodic revisions.
This move, they argue, would ensure a fair and timely reflection of the economic dynamics af fecting auto drivers.
