Woman, kids from Nepal working as bonded labourers rescued

Mysuru: A team of HD Kote taluk officials led by Tahasildar Srinivashas rescued three persons from Nepal who were working as bonded labourers in the agricultural fields in HD taluk on Friday.

They rescued a woman and her two children who were working as bonded labourers in a farm house at Kailasapura in H D Kote.

The family from Nepal had worked in farms in Bengaluru and Shivamogga district before settling in HD Kote.

As they had taken some loan, the farm owner had forced them to work as bonded labourers and paid Rs 200 daily. On a tip off, a team of officials led by the tahasildar including Child Development Programme Officer(CDPO) Asha, Social welfare department officer Ramaswamy and Tribal Welfare department Officer Narayanaswamy carried out the operation.

They booked a case against the owner of the farm house Eregowda and directed the CDPO to rehabilitate the woman and her two children.
