Bengaluru: In yet another electrocution incident, a 19-year-old person died after a high tension wire touched a JCB machine that was brought in to repair the broken down mobile tower in Laggere in the city on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Jitin Kumar, a native of Himachal Pradesh. Kumar and his brothers worked as JCB machine operators in Bengaluru.
On December 8, News Trail had reported about a mobile signal tower installed on top of a building collapsed while construction works on an adjacent site was underway in the Parvathinagar of Laggere.
At least 11 residents had a narrow escape as they evacuated the building before it collapsed to the ground.
Nandini Layout police had conducted an inspection of the spot after the incident. A week after the incident, a JCB machine was called in to repair the mobile tower when the incident took place.
Sources from the spot said that Jitin Kumar's brother was operating the JCB and shifting the broken mobile tower while Kumar was guiding him.
However while shifting a part of the tower, a metal arm of the JCB touched a live electricity wire.
Kumar, who was leaning on the JCB machine, instantly got electrocuted and collapsed on the ground. Kumar was immediately rushed to a hospital but he died on the way, sources added.
The police visited the spot and have taken up a case regarding the incident. Investigation is underway.
