
IT raids: Minor girls rescued, over 3000 kgs of gold among other valuables seized
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a shocking incident, the city police rescued two minor girls from the house of a jewellery shop owner in Yediyur in the city.
The girls were found during the Income Tax (IT) raid which is being carried out on tax evading businessmen residing in various parts of Bengaluru for the past several days.
According to the sources, the two minors aged 10 and 8 years, hail from Gaya district in Bihar. The girls were brought from their hometown to take care of the owner of the house.
At present, the minor children have been sent to the Child Protection Center in Siddapura here.
The Jayanagar police have registered a sumoto case against the accused and investigation is still underway.
Over 3000 kg gold found during the raids: Following the raids conducted by the Income Tax (IT) sleuths in Bengaluru for the last five days, the officials have seized unaccounted valuables, which includes more than 3000 kgs of gold along with diamonds and cash, from the houses of jewellery shop owners.
The officials have also seized hard disks, pen drives and computers belonging to the accused for verification.
The IT officials in coordination with the jurisdictional police have raided more than 9 jewellery stores including Abhushan, Bora, MR Jewellers, Mangalam and Riddhi Jewellers, among others, sources added.
