Covid: Screening starts at Mysuru, Ch'nagar checkposts including Sabarimala devotees

Mysuru: With Covid-19 cases increasing in neighbouring Kerala, Mysuru and Chamarjanagar district health authorities have started screening people coming from Kerala at Moolehole check post in Gundlupet taluk from Thursday.
The health authorities are also conducting screening at Bavali checkpost in HD Kote taluk.
District health authorities have deputed two health department officers for checking vehicle drivers and people coming from Kerala.
The department staff is recording the names of truck drivers and those having symptoms such as cough, cold, fever and sneezing, their address and mobile numbers.
The department has also checked the health of Sabarimala devotees as a large number of them have gone for darshan and have returned to their hometowns from Kerala.
Speaking to News Trail, Chamarajanagar District Health Officer Dr Chidambar S said that district health authorities are closely monitoring the cases in more than 123 border villages on the KeralaKarnataka border.
In addition, procurement of testing kits has been started while mock drills are being held in all taluk hospitals to assess bed capacity, including ICU beds, oxygen availability, and medicine supplies.
Covid testing will be started from Friday at Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences on the arrival of RT PCR testing kits, he said. Meanwhile, six persons in Mysuru are said to have tested positive for Covid.
