BMTC drivers on a Church Street outing

Bengaluru: The ever lavishing Church Street is host to everything leisurely and commercial, usually frequented by the elite.

However, drivers from the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) stepped their foot on it maybe for the first time, and they were in for a memorable experience on Saturday.

These drivers, who have travelled all across the city for decades got their first taste of the liveliness the street offers.

Drivers and conductors attached to Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) from the Shanthinagar Bus depot were taken to the leisure centre 'Amoeba,’ by a group of citizens and activits in Bengaluru.

Despite their first time bowling, it seemed they were seasoned bowlers. “These balls are heavy!,” said Krishnappa, the Assistant Traffic Inspector who had won amongst his colleagues.

“I have only seen people play but winning it at my first go was amazing and I had an memorable experience,” the 58 year old told News Trail.

Virtual Reality (VR) has recently attracted a lot of buzz with its nerve wracking experience. Rajkumar, a conductor, had felt all emotions when taken through a virtual trek in Mount Everest.

“I felt I was at the top of the world! I was initially scared, and came out a smiling man!” he added. Later in the day, The drivers were treated to a matinee show in a multiplex theatre.

“Days like these really help us to relieve stress,” Krishnappa said, adding to his openness for another day like this.

These drivers were chosen on the basis of their exceptional work. According to Nagendra the Deputy Chief , these drivers had recovered valuables upto Rs. 1 lakh.

“Drivers and conductors had also recovered items like Laptops and products made out of gold,” he added.
