Bengaluru: Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation's (KSRTC) "Namma Cargo-Truck Service" in the city on Saturday.

The ceremony marked the commencement of 20 new cargo trucks, with the minister revealing plans to induct 100 trucks monthly and 500 within a year.

“The Basaveshwara bus station in Peenya will serve as the central hub for truck operation and maintenance, offering vacant spaces to government companies for commercial exploitation,” said the minister.

KSRTC, a colossal transport entity boasting 16 divisions, 83 depots, and 174 bus stands, is extending its prowess into logistics with 'Namma Cargo.'

The newly introduced 'Namma Cargo-Truck Service' offers secure, speedy, and reliable goods transportation throughout Karnataka. Equipped with closed containers, these TATA 1112 LPT trucks, available for rent, feature GPS tracking for efficient delivery.

"In order to capitalise on its strength in the passenger transport business in 2021, the KSRTC ventured into the logistics business under the brandname "Namma Cargo" to carry parcels on KSRTC route buses.

Taking this forward, KSRTC is now introducing a brand new "Namma Cargo truck service" fitted with GPS for goods transportation," added Ramalinga Reddy.

With rates ranging from Rs. 50 per km for the first 100 km, Rs. 40 per km for 101-200 km, and Rs. 35 per km beyond 200 km, the service caters to diverse transportation needs.
