Compensation row: Cops at metro site

Bengaluru: Work undertaken near the Tin Factory for the Blue Line towards the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has been facing a situation for the past few days owing to a nuisance reportedly caused by the former owner of the site here.

Identified as Fayaz, the resident claimed that the BMRCL has not compensated for the land acquisition, and was allegedly harassing the contractors and the workers at the sites along with his aides.

The landowner, who claims that the compensation had been given to the ‘previous’ landowner, but has landed him in a city civil court case.

According to sources, it is alleged that Fayaz has resorted to pouring dirty oil over the steel reinforcements for the pillars makig it difficult for the BMRCL workers to continue the consturction of a pillar at the spot.

It was also alleged that as a mark of protest, Fayaz had also dumped three truck loads of debris. Meanwhile the BMRCL the city police for assistance over the matter following which Police Commissioner B Dayananda ordered personnel be deployed at the site to ensure no nuisance takes place at the construction site.

The Blue Line of Namma Metro connects Silk Board to the Airport via KR Puram and Tin Factory. It is poised to be operational by 2026.
