Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called upon industrialists to employ local people in the factories established in and around Mysuru city.
He made the comments during a meeting with the heads of the factories held in the city today.
“Employment in factories should be given only to the locals only. Outsiders should be given a chance only when technically skilled people are not available locally. We have human resources with professional skills. Locals should not be denied employment opportunities on false grounds,” Siddaramaiah said.
“Factories help in the increase GDP growth and development of the state. Employment must be mainly given to the families whose land has been acquired for the establishment of the factories. Locals should get priority. If there are no professionally skilled people, then it is advisable to train them and recruit,” he said, adding that the State government was willing to “provide necessary facilities and relaxations to industries”, referring to tax breaks.
Siddaramaiah also hoped that the Yuva Nidhi scheme would provide relief to unemployed youth.
“Our government is implementing the Yuva Nidhi scheme for unemployed graduates. This scheme will be launched on January 12. The graduates will be trained by the government, according to the demand for the professional skills needed,” he said.
Under the scheme, graduates from the 2022-23 would get a monthly allowance of Rs 3,000 and diploma holders would be given Rs 1,500, provided they have been without a job for six months and aren’t pursuing higher education.
