Bengaluru: A man and his twoyear-old son who were severely injured in a gas cylinder explosion at their house in Begur recently, succumbed to injuries at Victoria Hospital in the city on Sunday.
The incident had taken place on December 19 where five members of a family were injured after a cooking gas cylinder exploded at a building in Lakshmi Layout of Garebhavipalya under Begur Police Station limits.
Sandesh, 30, his wife Nikhila, 26, and three children Roshini, Rohan and Roshan, got injured in the incident.
As Sandesh and Rohan had sustained serious burn injuries, they were initially taken to St Joseph Hospital in Madiwala. However, later they were shifted to Victoria hospital for further treatment.
According to the police, Sandesh had come to Bengaluru three years ago seeking employment opportunities and had rented a house in Begur's Lakshmi Layout.
Taking up a job as a security guard, he later brought his family and started living here.
"On the night before the incident, Sandesh's wife had gone out for some work while Sandesh and the children went to sleep after dinner. However they forgot to turn off the gas cylinder," a police official told News Trail.
"Sandesh woke up around 6 am in the morning, and unaware of the gas leak, switched on the lights which triggered the explosion. The windows and doors were closed due to which the gas could not escape the house," the official added.
Meanwhile three others who also got injured in the incident are still under treatment at the hospital.
