Bengaluru: A peculiar incident unfolded in the city recently when the police personnel spotted a man running on the Dooravaninagar Main Road and intercepted him.
The cops were shocked when they found that the person was a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus driver, trying to escape his girlfriend and her husband.
The incident had taken place in the KR Puram Police Station limits near BMTC depot-24 on January 2.
The police said that the victim was chased by a woman and her husband when the cops intervened and rescued the conductor.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the conductor had befriended a woman who regularly boarded the bus.
Over the course of seven months, the friendship turned into a serious relationship. The two started spending time and taking a few photos with each other.
The woman cited financial problems following which the bus conductor transferred some amount to her.
At one point, he allegedly paid her Rs 80,000. However when the woman began asking for more money, the victim sensed something amiss and asked her to return his money.
According to the complaint filed by the bus conductor, the woman turned furious and threatened to show their pictures to his wife and disclose their relationship.
On January 2 the woman brought her husband, who was allegedly wielding a machete, to the bus depot in order to attack the bus conductor.
He was fleeing from the couple when the cops intercepted him. The police said that the woman had allegedly told her husband that the victim had been harassing her.
Enraged at this, the husband wanted to warn the victim to stay away from his wife.
A case of assault has been taken up and further probe is underway, said the KR Puram police.
