Mysuru: The resignation of former Bishop of Mysuru Rev Fr K A William has been accepted by Pope Francis, as per the notification issued by the secretary general of Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI), stated a release from The Catholic Association of Mysore.
A press release issued by secretary of The Catholic Association of Mysore Premanand D Mello stated that the CBCI notification clearly states that the apostolic nunciature wishes to acknowledge that this resignation is not a disciplinary measure imposed upon Bishop K A William but a decision for the good of the Church in order to provide the Diocese with a new Bishop.
President of Catholic Association of Mysore Mathew Benjamin Suresh said that Fr K A William has resigned in the greater interest of the church. His status is now that of Bishop Emeritus of Mysore. He will have no canonical restrictions on his ministry.
The provision was made public in Rome on January 13. K A William is in Mysore and he continues his service for the universal Church.
He also demanded action to be taken against the priests who made false allegations against K A William and hatched a conspiracy to allegedly 'kill him by planning to give supari'.
This development comes with a within days after a section of priests and churchgoers appealed to the Mysuru diocese top brass to allow former bishop of Mysuru rev Fr KA William to visit Mysuru.
