Lenin remembered on death anniversary

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) memorialized Vladimir Lenin, the leader of the October Revolution and co-founder of the Soviet Union, on the eve of his death anniversary.

Lenin died of illness on January 21, 1924. AIDSO state president Ashwini KS addressed the memorial meeting as the main speaker, pointing out that Lenin inspired Indian socialist revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose, who fought against British colonial rule.

“Lenin's ideals became an inspiration. Tragically, the society he fought for remains a dream. Today in our country, education and health are the property of few. The capitalist system takes away even the least self-esteem from people and makes them poor,” Ashwini said.

“Life is getting tougher. Farmers are becoming daily wage labourers. Factories are shut down in numbers. There are no permanent jobs. Many women are losing their dignity and have become prostitutes due to hunger. Society is yearning for change. To fulfill Bhagat Singh's dream and bring about Socialist Revolution is now our responsibility,” she added.

AIDSO Bengaluru District President Apoorva, Secretary Kalyan, activists and students also participated in the meeting.
