Bengaluru: At the National Driver's Day award ceremony hosted by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy honoured drivers with decades of exceptional accident-free service.

He remarked, "These drivers, devoted to BMTC for over 25 to 30 years, have dedicated their lives to service. Their remarkable record, devoid of complaints or issues, reflects their commitment and courtesy towards passengers."

Speaking to the media, Reddy emphasised, "With 156,000 daily trips, occasional accidents, often involving two-wheelers, become viral on social media, unfairly tarnishing the reputation of our dedicated bus drivers, conductors, and even the BBMP.

Today, we recognise 171 bus drivers for their exceptional service, aiming to give them the appreciation they rightfully deserve in the field.”

The Gold Medal, symbolising recognition for years of accident-free and crime-free service in BMTC, was presented to 171 accident-free drivers and conductors.

In addition to the Gold Medal, the selected driving staff receives a one-time cash award of Rs. 5,000. Gold medalists also qualify for a monthly incentive allowance of Rs. 100.

In a display of appreciation and gratitude, numerous passengers took the initiative to express their admiration for BMTC drivers on National Driver's Day.

They went beyond the formalities of the award ceremony, personally handing roses to drivers and extending warm wishes.

This spontaneous gesture not only acknowledged the drivers' hard work and dedication but also created a positive and uplifting atmosphere across the city.
