Mysuru: State Tourism Minister HK Patil on Saturday assured that the state government would soon give financial approval for restoration of the iconic Lalith Mahal Palace of the city as well as initiated measures for converting the old DC office of Mysuru as a museum to display heritage aspects.

His department has also initiated measures to boost nightlife tourism to attract tourists throughout the year.

Speaking to reporters here, the minister said that his government has already received the detailed project report (DPR) submitted by the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage for conservation and restoration of Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel.

This historic palace, renowned for its opulence and a distinctive blend of English and Italian architectural styles from the Wadiyar era, is a significant heritage site in Mysuru.

His department has given in-principle approval to the proposal submitted by Jungle Lodges and Resorts (JLR), the custodian of the heritage property, for its renovation.

The Rs 38 crore project is now awaiting the financial approval. Once the state government gives financial approval, tenders will be floated to take up the work.

The completion of the works not only helps for its restoration but also helps to increase the accommodation facilities for the stay of more guests.

In a move to boost nightlife tourism in Mysuru, the minister said that the tourism department has also worked out a plan to conduct the cultural events, police band music, sound and light like events in iconic Mysore Palace in the city.
