Hunsur: Wild tusker tramples 70 year- old farmer to death

Mysuru: A 70-year-old farmer was trampled to death by a wild tusker at Mudaganuru in Hunsur taluk on Saturday. According to forest department officials, the deceased has been identified as Harave Cheluvaiah of the village.

The wild jumbo attacked him to death when he was working in the ragi fields. The area comes under Veerana Hosahalli forest range limits. \

The wild jumbo which strayed out of the forest raided several villages nearby like Konanahaosalli, even damaged fencing in agriculture fields before encountering Chelvaiah in the fields leading to his death on the spot after injuring him seriously.

Upon receiving the information, Veeranahosahalli forest range officials rushed to the village, drive away the wild tusker to the forest after launching an operation.

They assured the victim family members would receive compensation provided by the government as per the procedure.
