Restore Maulana Azad Education Foundation, says student org

Bengaluru: All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) demanded the restoration of the Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF), which was shut down on Tuesday. Calling the decision “condemnable”, AIDSO State Secretary Ajay Kamath demanded that the MAEF be reinstated.
“It is painful that to further the agenda of the ruling party, the entire community is staring at darkness. Government must withdraw the order and restore all schemes and programs,” Kamath said.
“The foundation was started with a great desire for upliftment of the minority community and improving the reach of education among them. Lakhs of students over the years have benefited from this program. But gradually, with every budget announced, the funds have been reduced with only ? 1 lakh allotted in 2022-23 for a scheme which was helping thousands of students every year! The same government which criticises Congress over appeasement politics and accuses previous regimes for keeping minorities, especially Muslims away from higher education, has now spelt a huge blow to the aspirations of poor and marginalised students!” he added.
