Financial debt leads to tragic triple suicide incident of family members in Gadag District

Bengaluru:  n a devastating incident, three members of the same family, Manjunath Theli (26), Renavva (39), and Savakka Theli (40), reportedly took their own lives, allegedly due to harassment by money lenders following their inability to repay a loan.

The tragic events unfolded in Gonala Village, located in Lakshmeshwar Taluk, Gadag District. Manjunath, who had borrowed money to purchase a tractor, often found himself in heated arguments with family members over financial matters, as per reports.

On a fateful Monday, Manjunath chose Yalvigi Railway Station in Haveri as the site for his suicide.

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, his mother, Revanna, attempting to save him on the railway track, also lost her life when struck by an oncoming train.

Learning about the deaths of Manjunath and Renavva, Savakka, another family member, took her own life by hanging at home.

Railway police promptly visited the scene and transported the deceased bodies to the hospital. The community now grapples with the aftermath of this tragic sequence of events.
