Bengaluru: In a swift action, the Byatarayanapura police arrested four people for allegedly murdering a 23-year-old man near a temple in Girinagar on Friday night.

The deceased, identified as Yogesh, was a resident of Girinagar and was employed as a vehicle wash attendant at a Bike service Centre in Bengaluru.

According to a few locals, Yogesh was last seen dancing in the Maha Shivaratri procession organised by a temple in Girinagar. However he was found dead around 1 am on Saturday.

The police said that they had found a deep stab wound on his body and there were several pieces of broken glass found at the spot. It was initially thought that he might have accidentally fallen on the glass and died of injury.

Following an inspection of the spot and recording the statements of a few residents, the police however concluded that it was murder.

"The deceased had taken part in the Mahashivaratri process on Friday night. While dancing, he allegedly fell on a person who got offended and abused Yogesh which resulted in an altercation between them. After the procession, Yogesh was chased by a group of men who stabbed him using pieces of a glass," the police said.

The accused and the deceased were not known to each other, the police added. The police arrested four accused and are currently probing the matter further.
