Couple cheats people, promises railway jobs

Bengaluru: A couple has been accused of duping several citizens to the tune of crores of rupees after promising them jobs in the Indian Railways.
The accused couple were identified as Ramesh and Nalina, residents of Chikkabanavara in Bengaluru.
As per the complaint, they collected lakhs from each aspirant promising them jobs in the Indian Railways. The accused had even issued fake appointment letters to some of the aspirants.
When the aspirants did not get any notification for a long time, they suspected the couple and asked for their money to be returned back.
However it is alleged that Nalina created a scene stating that her husband had died.
While the victims believe that her husband has simply absconded, Nalini stated to the police that her husband is indeed no more. Meanwhile several cheating cases were lodged by the victims in Madanayakanahalli and some other police stations in Bengaluru against Nalini and Ramesh.
One of the victims claimed that, "Ramesh and his son showed us their ID cards and asked for Rs 2 lakh as initial payment to get me a job. They said the remaining Rs 4 lakh can be paid after the joining letter is issued. When we went to the railway offices at Majestic, we were told the letter was fake. When we demanded our money back, the couple sought six months' time, but then shifted their residence," he said.
The police said that Ramesh is still on the run and efforts are on to nab him soon.
