
Prostitution ring busted, three arrested

Bengaluru: City’s northeast division Women’s Police Station has reportedly arrested three individuals for allegedly running a prostitution racket in different hotels across the city.
The police have confiscated 13 mobile phones, 1 active scooter, a Toyota Etios car and 30,000 rupees from the possession of the accused.
According to the police, the raid was conducted under the leadership of Laxmi Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of North-Eastern division based on a tip-off.
Additionally, the police said that the individuals were illegally earning money through the racket and were using mobile websites to gain customers.
The police reportedly conducted raids in Koramangala, Madiwala and other parts of the city based on the information, in addition to the arrests made three women were also rescued during the operation.
In the past few years, integrated crackdowns on human trafficking and online scams have been mounted by the authorities with the help of international organizations but the number of related cases have not abated as syndicates find new ways to thrive.
Recently the Bengaluru police invoked the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, apart from other laws meant to tackle human trafficking when they rescued victims belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, from these traps.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda had said that these victims were lured into the racket with a promise of good jobs, then cheated and forced into flesh trade.
