Bengaluru: About a hundred people gathered near Town Hall on Monday to break the superstitions that are aligned with a solar eclipse; by consuming fruits, and snacks.
The people who gathered and addressed themselves as ‘awareness creators’ broke the superstition that was always associated with the eclipse that people do not consume anything during the eclipse.
The gathering included professors, students, women, and scientists as well.
The Awareness drive aimed to spread the message of science and no superstition with slogans on banners and placards such as 'Vigyanadadege Namma Nadege' (Our path in towards scientific) and 'No To superstition.
The initiator of this event, T Narasimha Murthy who has done this for over a decade told News Trail, "Breaking superstition for the past 10 years has been successful and we have been able to create awareness as well.”
He further explained that having faith in god is not the same as having superstitions. Shivarudrappa, a retired engineer, told News Trail, "Earlier only people from science backgrounds used to join us, but now it is good to see that people from all walks of life are basing their beliefs on science and joining us.”
