KSRTC bus skids, falls into paddy fields near KR Nagar,56 injured

Mysuru: More than 56 passengers of KSRTC bus were injured after the bus veered off the road, fell into paddy fields in a mishap occurred at Kestur Koppal gate in KR Nagar taluk in Mysuru district on Monday morning.

According to police, the bus which was loaded with nearly 80 bus passengers coming from Konanur towards K R Nagar through Hebsur, Saligrama road fell into paddy field when the driver of the bus lost his control over the wheels after steering wheels gets cut off and skidded off from the road.

However, over 58 bus passengers including bus driver Kumar and bus conductor Gangadhar sustained injuries during the incident.

The bus driver and several other passengers who were seated in front of the bus were thrown out by the front windshield glass. Most of them suffered injuries on face, head, leg, hand fractures as they were seated inside the bus.

Bus seats were removed due to the impact of the accident. Upon receiving the information, K R Nagar, Saligrama police rushed to the spot.

Local villagers, youths from Srirampur, Kesthurkoppal gate, Kesthurkoppal helped the police to shift the injured to the K R Nagar and Mysuru hospitals.

46 patients were treated at K R Nagar Public Hospital for minor injuries while10 others including bus driver and conductor who sustained serious injuries were shifted to hospitals in Mysuru.

They were out of danger according to the police. Most of the passengers who were travelling were localites, several were from Mysuru, Chikkanayakanahalli, Mandya,Tumkumkur and other places.

KPCC member Doddaswamygowda and others visited the hospital to inquire about the health of injured bus passengers. KR Nagar Police has registered a case and investigation is underway.
