Two arrested for duping people by promising govt jobs
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Two persons, including an official from the office of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), have been arrested for cheating people by promising government jobs in the city.
Anita, 42, a resident of RPC Layout and a section superintendent in the Economic Offenses Division of the Bengaluru CID office, and her accomplice Ramachandra Bhat, 56, are the accused.
As per a complaint filed with Vijayanagar Police in Bengaluru, the accused allegedly took Rs 40 lakh from a Chikkamagaluru resident, Sunil, assuring him a government job.
In 2021, Sunil was introduced to Ramachandra Bhat through his friend Manjunath. Bhat claimed to know Anita, who had connections with highranking officials in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) and the state government.
He promised Sunil a job and asked for a large sum of money. It is alleged that Bhat called Sunil to the CID office, where he met Anita. She showed him her office and ID card to gain Sunil’s trust.
They promised him the post of Assistant Engineer in the Public Works Department and demanded Rs 40 lakh. Sunil paid the money in December 2021 and February 2022, but he never got the job.
Later when he asked for his money, they allegedly threatened him. Sunil then filed a complaint against the duo. The police suspect that the accused have cheated more people.
