‘Those who consider Nandini a local brand need to change perception’

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Soon after bagging sponsorship deals for the jerseys of the Ireland and Scotland national cricket teams in the ongoing T20 world cup, M K Jagadish, Managing Director of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) hinted that the ‘Nandini’ logo might make an appearence in the Olympics next.

In a quick chat with News Trail, Jagadish explained their upcoming projects. “The World Cup initiative has propelled us to the status of an international brand.

‘Nandini’ which has gone beyond Karnataka, is not far from building a good interna- tional market,” he said, adding that governm e n t support was pivotal. On April 22, the co-operative announced sponsorships for the Ireland and Scotland cricket teams for the World Cup which is underway in the United States and the neighbouring Caribbean Islands.

“There’s always going to be criticism,” Jagadish said responding to a question on overlooking local teams.

“One thing I would say to critics is to change their perception if they think Nandini is only a local brand,” he stated.

The KMF’s move had stoked criticism in a section on the social media with some questioning the lack of support for local teams. The milk federation has now set eyes on the Paris Olympics. We are looking at all possibilities and getting in touch with the concerned people,'' he explained.

Amid the severe summer heat this year, the KMF had seen record sales in both curd and milk-based products. “We also hit record numbers in procurement of raw material, We’re firing on all cylinders and looking to maintain it,'' Jagadish remarked.
