94 get jobs in Slovakia through state skill development scheme
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) has launched a scheme aimed at helping state youths secure employment overseas. Under this initiative, 94 young professionals who have completed BE, diploma, ITI, and other job-oriented courses have secured jobs in Slovakia, thanks to measures taken by Skill Development, Livelihood and Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil.
To facilitate this, the KSDC provided support, including specialised training, visa procurement, document verification, and arrangements for food and lodging.
Dr. Patil identified Slovakia's demand for over 2,500 assembly line operators from Karnataka and facilitated an agreement with the External Affairs Ministry.
The recruitment process was launched, and 94 candidates, including 54 ITI and 31 diploma holders, were selected and sent to Slovakia. Recognising the financial constraints of the candidates, the KSDC also provided free training at the Toyota Kirloskar unit in Bidadi, covering expenses that would have otherwise amounted to Rs. 35,000 per candidate.
Dr. Patil distributed flight tickets during a send-off ceremony, announcing that the first batch departed on June 5, followed by subsequent batches on June 20, 24, and July 1.
Each candidate is set to earn 970 euros (Rs. 86,000) per month. In addition to Slovakia, the KSDC has secured jobs for 37 drivers in Hungary and is negotiating opportunities in Mauritius.
